PRIZED PUMPKIN
A man from Oregon is celebrating today, as his prized pumpkin has won a local contest for the region's largest gourd. More than 80 people brought their largest pumpkins to try and win the title. After a forklift hoisted all of the gourds onto a giant scale, Thad Starr came out on top. Not only was his 1,524 pound pumpkin the winner of the contest, it also set an area record. For his effort, Thad takes home $6 per pound, which comes out to more than $9,000. The top five pumpkins at the Half Moon Bay Art and Pumpkin Festival will remain on display throughout the week.
